Casting, Day 1

Today was our first day of casting! We hosted a group of actors in a rehearsal hall and asked them to bring us some material inspired by the little we told them about the show, just to see what they'd come up with.

Some came with monologues they'd prepared and used before, a few did their research on the topic and tailored monologues to their interpretation of the material, and one even came with an original piece they had written themselves.

Looking for actors, writers and strong mover/dancers requires a lot of different skill sets and finding the artists with the skills you're looking for that meet your idea of the character and trying to balance that with keeping an open mind towards artists who aren't of type but bring a new perspective or idea about what a certain character could be.

Long story short, we're compiling a good group of people to tell our story.

Even shorter - it was a good day.
