Shadow of the Run was formally founded in 2018 by co-creators Adam Kern, Beth McGee, Ben Needham, and Christine Woods.
In 2016, Kern and McGee developed the initial concept and script for Shadow of the Run, an immersive and interactive production based on the 1930s Cleveland Torso Murders. Needham was brought on as production designer, and Woods recruited as game designer and effects artist.
